The uncanny valley is a real concept in robotics, but as always I think it's more interesting to think about it in terms of evolution. We must have crossed it, and our revulsion toward anything that blurs the line between human and non-human is probably adaptive and could be linked to the extermination of other hominids by the lineage leading to us.
